FARRIER APPOINTMENT SERVICE TEAM, INC.
NEWSLETTER FEBRUARY  2005

www.farrierappointmentserviceteam.com
Member of Farrier Industry Association (FIA)

Please come and introduce yourself!

I am really excited! I will be attending my 7th FIA marketplace/AFA convention. This year will be a little different because instead of working at a booth for someone else, I will be running my very own booth for my new business! If you are attending AFA this year, please come by my booth # 128 at the FIA marketplace. I will be available to answer any questions you may have about my business and discuss what I can do to help you and your business. If we already know each other, come by and say HI!

What’s not so new and new from Dr. Esco Buff

The Founder Data Collection and Analysis Form by Dr. Esco Buff was introduced a couple of years ago.

  • The forms are clear, concise and easy to use.
  • They teach consistent radio graph techniques thus enabling the Veterinarian and Farrier to obtain more accurate information from the radiographs.
  • They enable the Veterinarian and Farrier to more accurately assess and document changes, even the smallest changes, in any hoof.
  • The forms remove the guesswork out of shoeing a foundered horse by helping determine where to place the frog plate of the heart bar shoe.
  • They help determine prognosis and the chances that the horse will return to its useful soundness state.
  • They help aid in professionally documenting treatment.
  • Each form is a three part, carbonless, 8 ½” X 11” sheet. They are packaged in set of 25.
  • Cost is $22.00 (U.S. Dollar) which includes shipping. I may have some forms at my booth # 128, during AFA. It will save you shipping by purchasing them from me.
NEW PUBLICATION! The Founder Data Collection and Analysis Book by Dr. Esco Buff is about to come off the press.

This is perhaps the most comprehensive book to date on how to take, read and interpret radiographs for the prognosis and treatment of the foundered horse. There are chapters devoted to:
  • Emergency First Aid – before treatment begins
  • Radiograph Techniques – to help aid in the assessment and prognosis of the foundered horse
  • How to Collect and Document Data – from the radiographs with the aid of the Founder Form
  • How to Determine Prognosis – and the chances the horse will return to soundness
  • Shoeing the Foundered Horse – how to use the radiographs to successfully shoe the found horse
  • After Care Instructions
This book will be available within 30 to 45 days. For a limited time, the book will be made available at a discounted pre-publishing cost. Hurry and take advantage of this offer as it will not be available once the book has returned from the publishers. I hope this works!

Awhile back someone sent me some tips on how Bounce softener sheets can be useful in other ways. Well, I thought that these two tips would be useful to farriers. Let me know if it really does work for you.
1. Put a Bounce softener sheet in your pockets to keep yellow jackets away.
2. A sheet of Bounce tied around a belt loop will repel mosquitoes.
