FARRIER APPOINTMENT SERVICE TEAM, INC.
NEWSLETTER MARCH 2005

www.farrierappointmentserviceteam.com
Member of Farrier Industry Association (FIA)

2005 FIA Tradeshow/AFA Conference in Chattanooga, TN

What a fun time! I almost had to go it alone, but my friend, Tina, said that she would love to come and help. Tina is my best friend and a second grade teacher. She has never met a farrier and, come to think of it, in the 18 years that I have known her, I have never seen her on or around a horse.

At first, Tina was apprehensive because she did not know anything about what we were suppose to do. After setting up our booth, introducing a few people that I knew to her and showing her what to expect and do, she became a pro by the second hour of the tradeshow. She was amazed that the farrier industry was so large. She was also impressed by the continual education available for farriers. But, when she met Sigurdur Torfi Sigudsson (Siggie), a farrier from Iceland, she could hardly believe how far some farriers travel for education.

Tina Abrams and Carla Repke are ready to
answer any questions he may have about the service.

A big THANKS to my newsletter subscribers for coming by the booth and introducing yourselves to me. It was great to put faces to e-mails and I wanted to mention just a few of you. Thank you, Dave F., for your encouragement and suggestions. John F., you flew by so fast I almost didn’t get a chance to say, “Hi!” I am glad you enjoy the newsletter. It was fun seeing Rollie and Linda G. again. Mark F. and his cohorts, thanks for stopping by. And, it was great meeting my new subscribers. Welcome aboard and I hope you enjoy the newsletter.

It was really worth the expense to introduce my company to everyone at the AFA Conference. From all the feedback I received, the most valuable was from vendors and farriers alike. They believe that Farrier Appointment Service Team, Inc. is a wonderful idea and as more and more farriers take advantage of it, they will see just how valuable and essential this service is to their business.

The forms are clear, concise and easy to use.
  • They teach consistent radiograph techniques thus enabling the Veterinarian and Farrier to obtain more accurate information from the radiographs.
  • They enable the Veterinarian and Farrier to more accurately assess and document changes, even the smallest changes, in any hoof.
  • The forms remove the guesswork out of shoeing a foundered horse by helping determine where to place the frog plate of the heart bar shoe.
  • They help determine prognosis and the chances that the horse will return to its useful soundness state.
  • They help aid in professionally documenting treatment.
  • Each form is a three part, carbonless, 8 ½” X 11” sheet. They are packaged in set of 25.

A fun tip of where to go to find the truth

Don’t always believe that information you receive is the truth. Truth is found through research, making inquiries, looking into, investigating and seeking.

I am sure you have received e-mails from friends and family that have all kinds of intriguing pictures, sad stories, happy stories, weird happenings, missing people, how to get money from Bill Gates by adding e-mail address, info on politicians, etc. One that I received was about elephants that saved people during the Tsunami (which was false). How did I know it was false? I went to www.snopes.com

My son told me about this web site. At this site, you can look up information you received e-mail and if you find a story false, you can send the information page from the web site to the person who sent you the story. This is a safe web site.
